Gala Event Characters
If you really commit to your "character" when attending a Gala event, it's even more fun and successful.
At the next Gala event you attend, you'll enjoy yourself even more if you play all of the characters for which you are called upon.
At this fundraising event for the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka, over $75,000 was raised to advance the development of the new Barrie YMCA, which will be a modern centre of community for the region.
While everyone was dressed to the "Nines", and there were no wardrobe changes, everyone got into their distinct roles when required.
When I played the role of MC, the audience played attentive, settling to listen to the next speaker.
When I did some stand-up to transition into the comedy portion of the evening, everyone put on their comedy club hats and loosened up for the show.
When I was auctioneer, people played the "big cheese" at their tables, bidding on awesome items.
And when I mingled, everyone became a schmoozer.
This may sound obvious, but if you think about it, how often have you been at an event when people aren't fully engaged throughout? When we all play our roles enthusiastically, it's not only more of a success, it's also more fun!
It, of course, also requires a great technical and production team to build the "sets" and provide lighting and sound. For the Gala Event Season, get out there, and get into it!
